ABOUT

photo: Vera Drebusch

My artistic practice moves at the intersection of tradition and innovation.
As a textile artist, I use yarn not only as a material but as a medium to negotiate complex sociological questions and preserve narratives.

I combine traditional techniques—such as hand-spinning and weaving—with modern technology, including computer-controlled looms and 3D printers.
A particular focus of my work is researching and promoting the use of local raw materials, such as regional sheep’s wool. My goal is to redefine their forgotten qualities and translate them into contemporary, tactile artworks—ranging from delicate objects to large-scale installations. However, I am equally passionate about experimenting with all kinds of other exciting fibers and filaments on the loom

My work is research-based, transdisciplinary, and always designed with a conscious eye toward the human experience. Whether addressing the fragility of global economic systems or the intimate bond between humans and animals, I strive to create spaces that invite viewers to feel and reflect—preferably with a wink.

Sharing knowledge is an integral part of my practice. As a trainer for Digital Weaving Norway (TC2), a freelance instructor at the VHS Hamburg, and a museum educator at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, I am dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to engage with the history and craft of textiles.

I live and work in Hamburg, Germany.
